Is visiting Iceland on your bucket list?

I recently crossed it off mine when my husband and I visited that beautiful country last month. I highly recommend traveling to the land of waterfalls, volcanos, glaciers, and adorable horses when you get the chance.

Speaking of horses, Icelandic horses have to be some of the cutest I’ve seen. They’re rather small, but sturdy, to withstand the long winters. They’re one of the purest breeds in the world because it’s against the law to import other types of horses to the country.

Iceland capitalized on that interest to create a funny, fresh marketing campaign with the purpose of increasing tourism. It’s called “Out Horse Your Email,” and it encourages weary, nose-to-the-grindstone workers to switch off and take an uninterrupted vacation.

(And like cat videos, who can resist graceful horses?)

Iceland Marketing Outhorse Your Email Campaign

After watching the video, you’re redirected to a website to pick a horse to create an out-of-office email that you can cut and paste. It’s a great example of tongue-in-cheek humor at its finest.

B2B marketers often forgo humor because it’s tough to do it right. You don’t want to create a campaign that’s intended to be funny but falls flat on its face.

However, I encourage you to take this example and think about how you could do something similar in your marketing.

Can you help your buyers solve a problem in a humorous way? (If you want help brainstorming ideas, just let me know.)
